The Odisha government decided to make appointments to 40,000 vacant posts in different government departments within six months by amending some clauses in the government recruitment rules.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik directed all departments to complete the recruitment process within the said period.
According to sources, appointments would be made against the vacant posts of school teachers, doctors, engineers, police personnel and assistants in Home, School and Mass Education, Higher Education, ST and SC Welfare, Revenue and Disaster Management, Agriculture, Cooperation, Animal Resources Development and Panchayati Raj departments.
However, whether it is a case of mere bravado, or the government means business, will be known after a couple of months. (Source – Odisha Sun Times)
