50 more MBBS seats for KIMS

The Union ministry of health and family welfare has approved 50 more MBBS seats for Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a constituent of the Bhubaneswar based KIIT University in Odisha.

The approval came following recommendations from the Medical Council of India (MCI) after verification at KIMS of infrastructural facilities, teaching and non-teaching staff, according to a university press release issued here on Thursday.

The ministry has increased the number of seats in KIMS from 100 to 150 for the 2014 -15 academic year under Section 10A of IMC Act, 1956.

Founder, KIIT and KIMS Dr Achyut Samanta has thanked Centre, MCI and the Odisha government for approving additional seats in KIMS.
