All India Radio (AIR) releases Jagannath Bhajans from archives

On the eve of the Nabakalebar Rath Yatra, All India Radio (AIR) released three volumes of Jagannath Bhajans as CDs.

These devotional songs of the 1960s and 1970s were meticulously collected from the AIR archives, Cuttack and released before Nabakalebara Rath Yatra to cater to the demands of Bhakti Sangeet lovers.

The CD contains Bhajans sung by late Banikantha Nimai Charan Harichandan, Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Das, Singhari Shyam Sundar Kar, Bhikari Charan Bal, Pandit Suramani Raghunath Panigrahi, Akshay Mohanty, Mohammad Sikandar Alam, Markandeya Mohapatra, Kashinath Pujapanda, Radhakrushna Bhanja, Shyamamani Devi, Snehalata Praharaj and Kalyani Bhattacharjee.

On the occasion, F Sheheryar, DG, AIR, informed that more such Bhakti Sangeets collected from the AIR archives would be released soon.

He further said Lord Jagannath’s evergreen Bhajans will soon be uploaded on the YouTube for thousands of devotional music lovers across the world. He said the AIR-Odia live streaming would also be available very soon on the Internet as well as on mobile apps.

Sri Suresh Chandra Panda, Member (Personnel) Prasar Bharti, Sri Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Chief Administrator of Puri Temple, Dr Sudha Mishra, DDG, AIR-Delhi, Dr Santanu Rath, Station Director, AIR Cuttack, Sri A.C Subudhi, Director Engineering, Sri Suhash Mohanty, Station Director Vividh Bharati Cuttack were among the dignitaries, present during the CD release function at the Palace of Puri Gajapati Maharaja Divyasingh Dev.
