Aparajita Gochhikar becomes India’s youngest Chess coach

Aparajita Gochhikar, Chess coach from Odisha, has earned the distinction of becoming India’s youngest national coach to represent the country in the International arena.

Aparajita has been selected as coach of the Indian chess team to represent in Asian Youth Chess Championship 2017 (U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 & U-18) to be held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan from March 31 to April 10.

As a coach, she has been awarded “National Instructor (NI)” by FIDE Trainers’ Commission, World Chess Federation on September 2016. She was also awarded with Candidate Master (CM) title by World Chess Federation.

“I received a communication from Government of India. I am elated that I am the first girl from the state to get such honour. I will be coaching chess participants representing India in the age group of 8 to 18,” Aparajita Gochhikar said. “I will try my very best to bring laurel for the state and country,” she added.

Two coaches from both men and women category have selected by SAI to go along with the team, where Aparajita is going along with the women team. As many as 33 players are participating in the event, out of which 6 boys, 9 girls & 2 coaches are selected by SAI.
