Bhubaneswar railway station ranks 9th for cleanliness in country

Bhubaneswar railway station ranked 9th among 75 A1 category stations in the country in cleanliness survey conducted by Quality Council of India (QCI). The report was released by railway minister Piyush Goyal.

This year the rank has been improved. Last year the station had achieved 13th rank. Puri railway station has bagged 22nd spot in the latest survey against 37th last year. These two railway stations from the State, which come under the jurisdictions of the East Coast Railways (ECoR) were selected under A1 category.

The survey puts Cuttack railway station at 30th position under ‘A’ category. Last year, Cuttack’s rank was 100. Among others railway stations in the State, Palasa (20), Brahmapur (35), Jajpur Keonjhar Road (39), Rayagada (64), Khurdha (127), Bhadrak (160) and Sambalpur (239) were placed under ‘A’ category.

But the East Coast Railway (ECoR) spread over Odisha and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh slipped to third rank against last year’s second rank as clean railway zone. According to the survey report, compared to 2017, there is nine per cent improvement in top 100 stations, 14 per cent in the next 100.

The cleanliness ranking, conducted by the Quality Council of India, was started in 2016. Since then, according to the study, there has been a significant improvement in the cleanliness aspect.
