Budhia Singh – Born To Run biopic movie to release in August

The much-awaited biopic “Budhia Singh – Born To Run” will release on August 5. It is based on the real-life story of Odisha’s marathon boy Budhia Singh who ran 48 marathons. One of these was a 65-km run from Bhubaneshwar to Puri, which he finished in seven hours and two minutes, at the age of four, 10 years ago.

Produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Code Red Films, the movie stars National Award-winner Manoj Bajpayee in the lead as coach Biranchi, alongside Master Mayur (Budhia) and Tillotama Shome (Budhia’s mother).

The makers released first poster ‘Budhia Singh – Born To Run’ on Friday. The poster clearly unveils Budhia walking in scorching heat. The backdrop and color of the poster is vibrant and shows, dawn and dusk in motion. The first look is as bright as sunshine, let’s hope the movie also outshines.

Directed by Soumendra Padhi, the film received the national award this year as the best movie in children’s category. The movie tracks Budhia’s life when he meets his coach, his rise to fame, and then the early fall.

The movie had earlier been named ‘Duronto’ but it was changed right before announcement of its release to ‘Budhia Singh – Born to Run’.

“It was a suggestion the marketing head gave. Since it is a biopic, it would be better to give Bhudia’s name just as most other biopics. The name ‘Duronto’ does not give a clear idea of the movie. Moreover Budhia Singh is more appropriate as he well known. This way the name of the movie will remain in the mind of most people at national and international levels. I believe it is a good decision as the name Budhia Singh will reach the audience easily,” the director said.
