Odisha Commerce and Transport Department will introduce online application facility for Driving Licence (DL) from June 1.
As per the online application procedures, applicants would have to log on to www.odishatransport.nic.in, fill out the online form and submit it. The system would generate a slot for the applicant to appear at the RTO office where he or she can submit the biometric details and deposit the fees on a specified date.
After collection of biometric details, the applicant will be provided another slot for field test.
The online application kickstarted at Bhubaneswar Regional Transport Office (RTO-2) on a pilot basis on Friday on the instruction of Transport Commissioner Chandra Sekhar Kumar. After a seven-day trial, it would be introduced across the State.
Since the RTOs collect all relevant document during the Learner’s Licence application, he or she need not submit the same all over again. The application for DL will be made between first and sixth month of securing the Learner’s Licence.
At present, about 1200 Driving Licence (DL) applications are received by RTO-2 every month whereas the number of Learner’s Licence is 2000.
