E-ticketing introduced at 5 protected monuments in Odisha

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has introduced e-ticketing at five protected monuments in Odisha from Sunday.

These five heritage sites include the Sun Temple in Konark, Khandagiri and Udaygiri caves, Rajarani Temple in Bhubaneswar and Buddhist sites at Ratnagiri and Lalitgiri. Apart from the monuments, e-ticketing facilities will also be made functional for the museum at Konark and Ratnagiri.

Visitors and locals welcomed the ASI move to start the e-ticketing facilities and said it would help visitors and check misappropriation of funds due to manual ticketing.

“E-ticketing has already been introduced in many monuments across the country. This has helped facilitate the visit of tourists, help save their time as well as manage the monuments better. This facility will also reduce the workload of the existing staff and help in better utilization of funds,” said superintending archaeologist, Bhubaneswar ASI Circle, Hemasagar A Naik.

Naik added, “The ASI has been planning to set up e-ticket kiosks at the tourist spots to further simplify the process.” The ASI had recently made a threefold hike in entry fees to these protected sites. A total 78 monuments are protected by the ASI in Odisha.

Visitors can buy e-ticket from here.
