AAP to enroll 3 lakh members in Odisha

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Odisha chapter has set a target to enroll more than three lakh members in the state during its membership drive.

The ‘Main Bhi Aam Aadmi‘ campaign, which was kicked off nationally in Delhi yesterday by AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with an aim to register more than one crore members, will continue till January 26.

“The response has been overwhelming. In view of the approaching Lok Sabha and assembly elections, we have decided to increase our membership target to 3 lakh,” said AAP state convenor and party’s national executive member Nishikant Mohapatra.

Mohapatra said around 40,000 people have joined AAP in the state so far. They include around 80 software professionals, 50 advocates, 10 chartered accountants and several doctors.

“The success story in Delhi has proved that people are desperate for a change and they want a party like us. In the forthcoming general elections, we are planning to field candidates in all 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha,” he stated.

Kejriwal said people aspiring to join the AAP across the country could SMS on a toll-free number – 07798220033 – or give a missed call.

“The membership number will be sent via SMS,” he said, clarifying that one mobile number would record only one membership.

Apart from this, people can also enrol into the party by filling a form on AAP’s Web site.

Admitting that not every person in the country had mobile phones, Kejriwal said such people would be approached door-to-door.
