To a query on the group’s bitter experience in wake of a fire mishap in their Kolkata hospital in October 2011 that killed over 90 people, AMRI CEO Krish Ramesh said patients’ safety and fire safety had been given top priority in the Bhubaneswar hospital.

“We have excellent arrangements in place, which are on a par with the best hospitals in the world,” he said.

Initially, AMRI had set a deadline of April 2011 to commission the hospital. However, it missed the deadline as construction work got delayed. The hospital had revised its deadline to early 2012, which again got delayed due to the Kolkata mishap, sources said.
