Biplab Samantray, a cricketer from Orissa included in Deccan Chargers brigade to play in IPL 2012. After Haladhar Das, Biplab Samantray is the second oriya batsman selected by Deccan Chargers. Biplab is selected for his recent performances.

In the recently concluded Duleep trophy, which witnessed the East Zone winning the final by an innings and 20 runs, Biplab emerged as one of the stars with an useful contribution of 41 runs in the middle order. Biplab Samantray had first made news by being the costliest player in The Odisha Premiere League, bought by the Katak Barabati Tigers. Being a right handed middle order batsman and a right arm medium pace bowler at the same time, it will be quite fascinating to see how this all-rounder fares for the Deccan Chargers in a format which requires almost every player to contribute his part with the bat as well as with the ball.
