Buy fresh vegetable online in Odisha


From now on, residents of Bhubaneswar will be able to order vegetables online. The Odisha state government, in partnership with a private agency, on Monday launched a website, where citizens will be able to order vegetables online and get it delivered at the doorsteps.

The online service started by the state agriculture department in association with Veggiekart Marketing Private Limited is aimed at providing green and fresh vegetables to customers through an integrated communication technology based distribution retail chain.

In the first phase, residents of Bhubaneswar can avail the benefit of the online portal. The consumers need to log in to www.veggiekart.co.in and place their orders.

At present, only cash-on-delivery system has been started. If the bill is more than Rs 250 there will no extra delivery charges. The consumers need to place their orders before 12 hours of delivery.

The objective of this initiative is to develop a symbiotic relationship between the consumers and farmers, wherein the consumers will get good quality vegetables and fruits and there will be a rise in the overall income of farmers. Officials said the new system will completely eliminate the role of middlemen from the value chain.
Veggie Kart
VeggieKart Marketing Pvt Ltd, an initiative by eKutir Rural Management Services, along with promoters MGM Agriventures, is taking a pioneer step in this sector by starting a vegetable marketing initiative under the brand names ‘Veggie Kart,’ ‘Veggie Wheel,’ ‘Veggie Mart’ and ‘Veggie Lite.’

Speaking on the occasion, Naveen said that the State Government has given priority to minimising vegetable wastage.

Agriculture Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said that a value chain was created for the service wherein the farmers will be given the right price for the produce and the customers will be provided vegetables at regulated market price.

The services of VeggieKart will be spread to more districts in future which include Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Nayagarh.
