The intra-state commercial flight services is likely to resume from the Jeypore airstrip in Koraput district of Odisha by the first week of February this year.
According to reports, the officials from the Air traffic control (ATC)-Communication are likely to visit the Jeypore airstrip this week for an inspection of the construction work. They will review the infrastructure related to air traffic control.
The formalities required to obtain permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also almost completed. The district administration is likely to apply for the license in January last week, the source said.
Notably, the flight services from Jeypore were shut from December 2016. Last year, the airstrip was included under the UDAN scheme for regional air connectivity.
With the proposed resumption of air services from Jeypore airstrip, the hope to launch regular flights from the southern Odisha town to Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda soars high.
