Odisha Govt to demolish 195 illegal apartments in Bhubaneswar

Odisha government has decided to demolish around 195 illegal apartments in Bhubaneswar for violating guidelines, informed Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo in Assembly.

In a written reply to a question by MLA Chandrasekhar Majhi, Singhdeo said that it has come to the notice of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) that around 583 apartments and high-rises have been constructed in Bhubaneswar in violation of the stipulated guidelines.

Cases have been registered against the violators as per section 91 (1) of Odisha Development Authorities Act, 1982 of which authorities have been directed to raze 195 buildings, he informed.

As many as 1,415 apartments and high-rises have been approved by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) in the Bhubaneswar municipality area. The BDA is yet to ascertain the occupancy strength of these approved apartments, he added.
