Justice Markandey Katju apologises for his comments on Odias

Former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju today apologised on Facebook for his alleged derogatory comments about Odias after an outcry against it.

“My comments were not intentional. I had written it lighter vein on Facebook. If Odia people are hurt I am sorry. I had no intention to hurt their feelings or show them in low esteem. I apologize for my comments. Please don’t make a mountain of a molehill. I will post an apology on the Facebook immediately,” said the former Justice of Supreme Court of India in an interview to a local television news channel.

Now Justice Katju has posted an apology on Facebook.

This is what Justice Markandey Katju had posted on Facebook on October 10, which had led to anger and frenzied emotions in Odisha.

The former Supreme Court justice’s remark had triggered a furore in the state with burning and smearing of his posters in Puri and other places. Besides, several political parties also flayed Katju for his unsavoury remarks.
