Kolkata-Mumbai IPL match moved to Barabati

Cricket lovers in Odisha have reasons to rejoice.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ home game against Mumbai Indians on May 14 has been moved from Eden Gardens to the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack because of security constraints during the elections in West Bengal.

“I am happy that Cuttack will be hosting an additional match in the ongoing season of the Pepsi IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders will be playing an ‘away’ game in Cuttack, against Kings XI Punjab, on 11 May. KKR will then stay back in Cuttack, and play a ‘home’ game against Mumbai Indians, on 14 May. Both sides can expect the support of the spectators, and the spectators in turn can expect some fantastic cricket,” Ranjib Biswal, Chairman, IPL Governing Council, said.

The BCCI had earlier allotted two matches at Barabati Stadium.

While the first match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings was held, another match would be held between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 11.
