Naveen begins campaign at Hinjili

Chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik begins his party’s election campaign from Sheragada in Ganjam district today.

He is seeking re-election from the Hinjili seat for the fourth time.

Naveen won the seat by a margin of 26,417, defeating Congress nominee in 2000. The winning margin increased to 42,642 votes in 2004 and 61,273 in 2009.

The campaign started with a road show from Sheragada and will cover most panchayats in Sheragada and Hinjili blocks that have 22 and 21 panchayats respectively.

While Hinjili is a notified area council (NAC), Sheragada and Hinjili blocks have 22 and 21 panchayats respectively.

“I am hopeful about the party’s success in the ensuing polls,” said the BJD supremo.

Patnaik is also likely to cover other assembly segments in Ganjam district like Aska, Sanakhemundi and Sorada on Thursday morning.
