Nayagarh gets its first train and enters country’s railway map

After a long wait, Nayagarh was included in the country’s railway map on Monday. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu dedicated the newly-built 12.8km railway section between Bolagarh Road to Nayagarh town to the nation.

Apart from unveiling the line, the Railway Minister inaugurated the Nayagarh Town Station building while flagging off the passenger train that made its first journey to the district headquarters town.

The Bolagarh-Nayagarh town stretch comprises 28 minor and three major bridges and 13 road over bridges which required 267.23 acre land. The Railways have spent about Rs 85 lakh for construction of the Bolagarh passenger halt.

From Tuesday onwards, two pairs of passenger trains will run between Khurda Road and Nayagarh. The first train – Nayagarh-Khurda Road passenger – will leave Nayagarh at 5am and reach Khurda Road at 7am. The other train of the pair – Khurda Road-Nayagarh passenger – will leave Khurda Road at 7.35pm and reach Nayagarh at 9.30pm.

The second train – Khurda Road-Nayagarh passenger train – will leave Khurda Road at 7.45am and reach Nayagarh at 9.30am. The return train will leave Nayagarh at 10am and reach Khurda Road at 11.30am. Construction of the railway section between Bolagarh Road and Nayagarh was completed recently. The newly-built section is part of the 289-km-long Khurda-Balangir railway project.
