Odia boy Amit Mallick’s bike trip from Kanyakumari to Kashmir

Amit Mallick, Indian Navy soldier from ‪Odisha, is on a special bike trip from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. This is his story.

“Ladakh is a biker’s paradise. They say if you haven’t rode to ladakh you have never rode at all. Year after year this distant dream remained a dream, commitments to the nation to the family stood as a barrier always between me and my dream. This year I was adamant with my decision of making it to there in a grand style, come what may, and than came up with this idea of doing a K2K (Kanyakumari to Kashmir) on occasion of Independence day, to spread a message of unity and lend my support to our Olympic heroes,” said Amit Mallick.

“True to my identity, no plans stuck to me. Difficulties started pouring in, I went bankrupt, the source of finance got delayed by a month, my leave was sanctioned. Everyone I reached out for help backed off. I was mocked for my plan. Forget friends, not even family stood with me, for every one else it was just a stupid ride. But I knew how badly it was for me, just like the patient on ventilator, to to add more woes to it, I was diagnosed with ‘Spondylitis’, circumstances forced me to give up. It was like going into coma, it suffocated me. No, I yelled to myself, not this time. Come what may, I am gonna do this. Doesn’t matter if I sleep at dhaba cots or survive on vadapao, I will stick to it. All I want is to send the message to every one out their who thinks I ain’t worth it, I will do this, I don’t need any support, self motivation is enough for me to push the limits,” he shared about his preparation for this trip.

“I would be riding from Kanyakumari to Leh and subsequently to Kashmir in no fixed routes to spread this message to unite against the evil forces who eye our motherland, and feel proud as an INDIAN. and to send a loud cheer to our heroes who would be battling hard at Rio for glory,” Amit Mallick concluded.
