Odisha boy wins at 3rd South Asian International Karate-Kick Boxing Championship

Shaik Sahajad Musaraf from Odisha has made the state proud by winning a gold medal at the 3rd South Asian International Karate-Kick Boxing Championship-2017.

At the tournament held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, 16-year-old Musaraf outperformed representatives from four countries. He won the gold medal in the full contacts open, 55kg category.

Seven participants from the state took part in it, but Musaraf was the only participant from Jajpur. Besides, he had taken part in many karate-kick boxing events in the state.

A Plus Two first-year student of Mount Litera Zee School at Jajpur Road, Musaraf has been learning karate for the past two years under the guidance of karate master Gayadhar Singh of Bhadrak.

A total of 114 participants from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal took part in the tournament that was held on December 28 and 29, 2017.
