A humble tea seller in Odisha celebrates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday by distributing tea and sweets free of cost to people. Akshay Jaisingh from Puri celebrated Modi’s 67th birthday.
“Once upon a time, the Prime Minster sold tea. So, in a way, I am related to him by profession. I am very happy that a tea seller is now leading the country. Therefore, I decided to celebrate his birthday by distributing tea and sweets free of cost. My daughter also cut cake and celebrated the day,” said the jubilant tea seller who clearly is a big fan of Modi.
In keeping with the spirit of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Modi’s pet project, he served tea in earthen cups rather than the paper or plastic cups used by most tea vendors. “In a bid to mark the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, I am using earthen cups to serve tea instead of plastic made use and throw glasses,” said Akshay.
Akshay has put in place elaborate special arrangements to mark the occasion. He has decorated his tea stall, located at Town Hall Chowk, with balloons, flowers and posters of the Prime Minster as if he is celebrating his own or his children’s birthday. His daughter, however, did cut a cake to mark the special occasion.
As if all this was not enough, he also put up a statue of his idol at his shop. A huge crowd gathered at Akshay’s tea stall to get free tea and sweets from 10 AM to 2 PM. The locals appreciated his special love for the Prime Minister.
