Eleven Odisha primary and secondary school teachers were felicitated with President Awards at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on the occasion of the Teacher’s Day on Tuesday.
Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu presented the National Teachers Award to 319 teachers from across the country for their outstanding service for the year 2016, at the function.
The Vice President also launched the DIKSHA portal, a National Digital Infrastructure for Teachers, aiming to enable, accelerate and amplify solutions in the realm of teacher education.
It is a unique initiative which leverages existing highly scalable and flexible digital infrastructures, while keeping teachers at the centre.
The teachers are Gangotri Devi, Balaram Sahu, Ajay Kumar Prusty, Binay Kumar Pani, Nabakishore Mallick, Subhash Chandra Mohanty, Birajini Mohapatra, Rohit Kumar Behera, Anasuya Mishra, Muralidhara Parida and Ranjan Kumar Das.
