Odisha Vigilance launched its official facebook page and a toll-free helpline number for people to lodge complaints against bribe-seeking government employees.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday unveiled the Facebook page of State Vigilance and called upon the youth to use social networking to report corruption which affects the economic growth of a country.
“It is a small step towards building a channel of communication with people of Odisha. We will conceal the identity of informers and complainants, who are required to drop their secret information in the message box of the Facebook page,” said director (vigilance) K B Singh.
For those who do not have access to the Internet, toll-free helpline number can be used to lodge complaints. The number will be open on all working days. All calls received on the toll-free number will be registered and the user will be provided a complaint number for future reference.

People demanded the vigilance to upload photographs of the officers trapped in graft cases. “Employees of different departments should also keep a watch on their corrupt colleagues and film their dishonest act. There should be a provision to allow public to upload photographs and video clips of officers, taking bribe,” said Radhakant Mishra, a social campaigner.
Official sources said vigilance registered 285 cases in 2013 and the number soared to 368 by December last year.
A total of 3,193 government employees were booked on corruption charges in the state in the past five years.
So far, the anti-corruption wing has registered 98 corruption cases against 47 IAS officers and 11 against seven IPS officers.
