Omfed milk price hike for third time this year by Rs 2 a litre

The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (Omfed) has announced to increase milk prices by Rs 2 a litre from December 21.

The two hikes earlier were effected in February and August, the prices going up by Rs 2 per litre each time.

According to an official communication, the price of double-toned milk would go up to Rs 32 per litre from Rs 30, toned milk would be available for Rs 34 instead of Rs 32 earlier.

“As per the declaration of Odisha government, this price difference will be passed to the milk farmers directly,” said OMFED CMD cum Fisheries and Animal Husbandry secretary Bishnupad Sethy.

Given the existing stock of packing rolls with OMFED, Sethy has requested the customers to cooperate with the new prices from Dec 21 since the packets reflect the old prices.

Omfed has been produring about 4.5 lakh litre of milk a day through 3,600 cooperative societies in Odisha state.
