Avinash Nanda AD Film Maker to Movie Director

Like all ad-film makers who secretly hold a desire to transform their 30 seconds reel into a full-fledged 180-minutes film, Avinash Nanda too had nurtured a similar dream for long.

When the young ad-man hit a century in the ad-making world, he knew its time to add another feather to his cap.

Seventeen years was long enough for Avinash to learn all the nitty-gritty of creating a motion picture and taking all his ideas ahead.

Right now Avinash is busy making his dream come true with his first film Rangadari. Sharing his directorial debut cap is his brother Abhimanyu, another well-known face in the advertising world.

Growing up in Cuttack proved to be a boon for Avinash who not only got an opportunity to follow the Odia film industry closely but also acted in serials and films that included acting geniuses such as Mihir Das and Sriram Panda.

It was Avinash’s first brush with cinema that soon became his first love. Soon after completing his graduation from Ravenshaw College, he packed his bags and set out for the country’s film paradise Mumbai.

After a long and patient wait, Avinash finally found a script that he believed in and had the confidence of churning it into a blockbuster.

Ikram Akhtar, whose work includes Bollywood hits such as Ready, Welcome and Houseful, has penned Rangadari’s story and screenplay.

The plot revolves around a “Robinhood” of Lucknow. At the time when every director is more than enthusiastic in making a romantic comedy, Avinash-Abhimanyu dared to try their hands at a gangster plot.

“During my advertisement days, I have learnt to understand people’s mind before launching a product. I have used the same formula for my film as well. My target audience is the front benchers of the hall and I am making the film according to their taste and sensibilities,” said Avinash.

It’s the dialogues that determine the fate of the film and Avinash knows it quite well. He has roped in Sanjay Masoom, who is known for his crisp dialogues in films such as Jannat and Krrish.

Lalit Pandit, who scored the hit — Munni Badnaam Hui — will be scoring the music of the film, which Avinash says is an integral part of Rangadari.

The cast includes Gaurav Chopra, Alankrita, Kajal, Shakti Kapoor, Kiran Kumar, Aditya Pancholi, Aman Verma and many more.

“I had spoken to Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt but both of them had date problems so I thought of launching promising stars for the film,” added Avinash.

As far as his Odia connection goes, Avinash is waiting for the right film and right time to work on an Odia film. So far, the budding director has already started working for his next film, which he says will be a dark comedy. (Source – The Telegraph, Author – Chandrima Maitra)
