Patient records goes online at SCB Medical College and Hospital

Now health records of patients visiting SCB Medical College and Hospital will be available online. Authorities said it would give fillip to health care services at the hospital.

With just a click of mouse, doctors and hospital staff can get all information related to a patient’s disease, line of treatment provided to him/her and medicines prescribed to the patient, online.

“The C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) has been roped in by state government to digitize health records of our patients. Under e-sushrut application, C-DAC developed a software for us to store all information related to patients visiting SCB,” said administrative officer of SCB, Pratap Mishra.

SCB officials said that under the new system, any patient visiting the OPD or emergency department will be registered online and provided an unique identification number (UIDN). The number will help to store all details related to the patient in a server and any department can view it.

Mishra said after introduction of the system, patients will not have to carry their documents and treatment related papers from one department to other. With their UIDN number, doctors in different departments can get details of the patients. If a patient visits the hospital after two years without his papers, then also he/she can be treated as we will have their information in our server.

“Besides, the new system will also help to streamline healthcare system and will improve efficiency in the hospital,” said a senior doctor.
