Puri Jagannath temple to follow Tirupati’s pilgrim initiatives
The Justice Bimal Prasad Das commission, constituted by the state government may recommend for appointing a Vigilance officer in the Puri Jagannath temple and to renovate its security pattern.
Justice B P Das commission, which was formed to recommend reforms in the operation of Puri’s Jagannath Temple, visited Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Temple on February 26 to study the functioning of the temple, which attracts lakhs of devotees every year.
The commission is thoroughly observing the activities in the temple following which it may propose the government to appoint a Vigilance officer for monitoring income and expenditure of the temple, Justice Das said.
The commission’s recommendation will have no impact on tradition and rituals of the temple but the commission will setup a disciplined administrative system in the temple.
Throughout the trip they studied measures taken by the TTD trust for crowd management, parking arrangements, lodging facility for devotees, prasad preparation and its smooth distribution at the temple premises.
