Attending the annual function of Ravenshaw University Students’ Union, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a host of sops worth about Rs 74 crores on Wednesday.
Apart from making the university a fully Wi-Fi campus, the state government has sanctioned Rs 44 crore for improvement in its drainage system, construction of a three-storey Academic Block, an indoor stadium and a sports complex, and a heritage building.
Ravenshaw University’s hopes for getting its second campus got a much needed boost with Chief Minister announcing Rs 30 crores for the project.
Stating that his government had given priority to quality education in the university, Patnaik said seven smart classrooms would be opened and 267 new teachers appointed to impart uninterrupted teaching.
Among others, School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Vice-Chancellor Prof Prakash Sarangi, students’ union president Sthitaprajna Das and general secretary Pramod Pati also spoke at the event.
