Seafood Park at Deras to create 3 lakh employment opportunities

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of Seafood Park at Deras on Saturday. Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) will develop the mega seafood park.

Deras is finalised as the location for the park because of its proximity to Bhubaneswar, which will help it tap the necessary work force for the purposes. Besides, the existence of an international airport nearby would ensure good logistic support for the venture

The Seafood Park laced with all world class infrastructure from processing facilities, storage, packaging to advanced laboratories will give a huge boost to the marine fisheries sector in Odisha.

With a long coastline, Odisha is endowed with rich marine resources which have high demand internationally. But quality issues and packaging of products has been a huge concern. This seafood park will address processing issues and boost exports.

“It will be a boon for our fishermen and is expected to create direct/indirect employment for 3 lakh people. It is also expected to harness investment of over Rs 500 crore,” wrote CM on his facebook page.
