Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Bhubaneswar Smart City and its denizens on winning the prestigious Pierre L’Enfant International Planning Excellence Award instituted by American Planning Association (APA).

“It has been our avowed objective and constant endeavour to develop Smart City Bhubaneswar as the best in country and among the best in the world. Global recognition like Pierre L’Enfant International Planning Excellence Award and the honour of being a finalist at the World Smart City Awards 2016 at Barcelona last year only bolster our efforts towards the goal. I am proud that Bhubaneswar is not only developing as a world class city but also being acknowledged,” wrote CM Naveen on his Facebook page.

The American Planning Association (APA) honors comprehensive planning efforts and inspiring individuals with its 2017 National Planning Excellence and Achievement Awards.

Each year, APA recognizes outstanding efforts in planning and planning leadership through its National Planning Excellence and Achievement Awards. The two-tier awards are selected through a juried process. Excellence recipients are the highest honor and Achievement Awards recognize areas of specialization with the planning profession.

Five recipients were selected to receive APA’s National Planning Excellence Awards and 12 recipients were selected to receive Achievement Awards. Award recipients will be recognized during APA’s National Planning Conference at a special awards luncheon on Monday, May 8, 2017, in New York City.
