Sudarsan Pattnaik creates world’s biggest sand turtle at Puri beach

Sudarsan Pattnaik has created the world’s biggest sand turtle with installation of plastic bottles at Odisha’s Puri beach on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Sudarsan said, he has created 50ft long and 30ft wide sand sculpture of a turtle by using about 30 tons of sand with some colour and used plastic bottles with message “Beat plastic pollution”.

World environment day is observed each year across the world with a particular theme. This year the theme is, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” a call to action for all of us to come together and combat one of the great environmental challenges of the time.

Sudarsan Pattnaik took social media by storm on Earth Day when he created an artwork that showed a crocodile with a plastic bottle in its mouth with a message – Stop Pollution, Save Earth.

Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan’s constant efforts to spread the message on marine litter and ocean pollution have also got a thumbs up from UN Environment.

Along with plastic pollution, Sudarsan is also well-known for creating innumerable sand arts revolving around the theme of cleanliness, sanitation and garbage crisis.
