Odisha’s tallest Ganesh idol will come up in Bhubaneswar

The tallest statue of Lord Ganesh in Odisha has come up at Saheed Nagar in Bhubaneswar. The 35-foot tall idol, named ‘Thailand Ganesh’, will be a major attraction at the festival to be observed on September 19.

With Ganesh Chaturthi around the corner, work is on in full swing to finish the idols of the elephant god.

“As many as 10 artists have been working to complete the gigantic Ganesh idol. This is the highest idol in the city and will attract people in huge numbers. Another major attraction would be an 18 kg laddu in the hands of the lord,” said the president of Winner Association, a youth club in Bhubaneswar.

Last year, the club made a 30-foot-high statue of Lord Ganesh. Besides the huge idol, the association has organized an eight-day-long special cultural program during the festival.

Like last year, this year too club members plan to ‘immerse’ the statue by spraying water on it with the help of the fire brigade.
