11 women rugby players from Odisha will take part in the Indian Women’s Rugby XVs – National training camp scheduled to be held at Bombay Gymkhana in Mumbai from May 11 to 31.
The players are: Meerarani Hembram, Manjulata Pradhan, Sumitra Nayak, Bhagyalaxmi Barik, Laxmipriya Sahu, Sanjukta Munda, Shubhalaxmi Barik, Hupi Mahji, Rajani Sabar, Lija Sarkar, Parbati Kisku.
The Indian National Women’s team will be participating in the inaugural Asia Rugby Championship – Division 1 (Rugby XVs) to be held in Singapore from June 1 to 6.
The Tri-national series will see India take on host Singapore on June 2 and then play Philippines on June 5.
For the national team, Rugby India meet all costs, from travel expenses from their home to the competition, costs for training camps – everything. It is the least we can do for players representing their country.
