Actor-turned-politician Aparajita Mohanty is the star attraction in Cuttack elections. Her rallies and public gatherings are running houseful like movies in theatres during her heydey.
“People jostle to get a glimpse of the actor and shake hands with her. We have a tough time managing the crowd during her public meetings,” said a senior Congress worker.
She is contesting from Cuttack Lok Sabha (LS) seat on a Congress ticket.
“I know it very well that glamour hardly matters in politics. I am putting in a lot of effort to reach out to voters,” the once-heartthrob of youths told.
“I am interacting with people to know their problems. I am hopeful that all my hard work will pay off and people of Cuttack give me a chance to serve them,” said the legendary actor of yesteryear.
“I have spent 30 years of my life in Odia film industry and received lots of love and accolades from people. I feel lucky that so many people love me and shower their blessings. But in no way, I consider myself a celebrity,” said the soft-spoken enchantress, who has worked in over 80 films.
“I am just one among them and if people elect me, I will try my best to serve them,” she said.
Her opponents are also buying her theory that glamour has little impact on elections.
