The lush green Barabati stadium is all set to host Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) clash with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tonight.
This will be the 29th Pepsi IPL match of season 2014.
This is Punjab’s designated home fixture, but will be played in Cuttack. Both the teams head into the contest occupying the top two positions in the IPL 7 Points Table.
Kings XI Punjab has great batsmen like Glenn Maxwell, David Miller and Virender Sehwag in its ranks, everything would depend on how well they perform at the crease on Wednesday.
For CSK, Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum, the most successful opening pair in IPL 2014, have done a great job for their team by giving their team a winning headstart in most matches.
The Punjab team, co-owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, arrived in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Yesterday, the players practised under the watchful eyes of coach Sanjay Bangar, who happens to be the only Indian coach in IPL-7. Along with the regular drills, the players had batting, bowling and fielding and catching practice.
After the Chennai match, Punjab will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owned by Shah Rukh Khan on May 11 at Barabati.
