Baramunda Bus Stand to upgrade as Inter State Bus Terminal

The Odisha government approved the tender for state-of-the-art modern Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda Bus Stand. The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is entrusted by the State Govt with the development of the project on engineering procurement construction (EPC) mode through a transparent bidding process.

Apart from idle bus parking space for 190 buses, the ISBT Baramunda will have public parking space for more than 250 four-wheelers and about 175 two-wheelers. M/S Bridge and Roof Company India Ltd, a Government of India undertaking, will execute the project at a cost of Rs 160,66,54,000.

The project aims at developing a state-of-the-art bus terminal with all the necessary facilities for passengers as well as buses. The project will explore and generate revenues from non-fare box sources to make it sustainable.

The project will not only improve the public transit system in the city but also connect many capital cities and business centres in other states, said an official.

The ISBT will also have all modern amenities including a passenger information centre, passenger pick up and drop off facilities, prepaid auto and taxi service, etc. The entire complex would be equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity.
