BCCI excluded Barabati stadium from future Test venue list

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) excluded Odisha’s Barabati stadium in Cuttack from future Test venue list on Monday.

Such an awful news comes in the wake of the unfortunate and unpleasant ‘bottle missile’ nuisance committed by certain unruly spectators during the second T20 match held at Barabati on October 5 between Team India and Team South Africa.

Earlier, BCCI had slapped a show cause notice on the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) in the wake of the untoward development at Barabati Stadium.

Aspirations of cricket fans in the State had multiplied after a four-member team expressed satisfaction in February last year over the existing infrastructure at Barabati stadium for holding Test matches.

BCCI has named six additional Test venues at their Annual General Meeting on Monday. The six latest Test venues that have been added to the nine existing ones are: Ranchi, Pune, Indore, Visakhapatnam, Dharamsala and Rajkot.
