Bhubaneswar: Pay fine for dumping garbage here and there
From next month, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation will impose fines of up to Rs 5,000 on anyone found dumping waste anywhere apart from the designated areas.
Shop owners, vendors, eateries, hotels, banquet halls, offices and business establishments beware! Come March 1, your establishment is not equipped with dustbin, then you are likely to face the music.
At a meeting on implementation of the solid waste management rules here today, municipal commissioner Krishan Kumar said that no one would be spared if found dumping waste here and there.

The Environment Protection Act, 1986, and the revised Municipal Waste Disposal Rules, 2000, both mention that every household or commercial establishment should have their own garbage bins.
It can be mentioned here that from the 31st rank in 2015, the city has improved to a place of 24th among 75 cities this year, under the Swachh Survekshan survey by the Ministry of Urban Development.
