BMW’s new self-balancing bike is so smart you won’t need a helmet

BMW had unveiled a bike of the future concept to mark its centenary recently.

BMW claims that the riding experience would be so safe that the rider wouldn’t need a helmet. Instead, a ‘smart’ visor would take care of displaying the necessary information on it and would be the only headgear that would be worn.

The zero-emissions bike has self-balancing wheels designed to stand upright even at a complete stop, stability that the company says will allow riders to forgo riding a helmet.

Try as you may, you’ll never ever have an accident when riding this bike. According to the company, it has active assistance systems that “enhance stability and safety by automatically balancing the motorcycle, both out on the road and when stationary”. In simpler words, it does the hard work of balancing for you.

The company says “riders will benefit from additional guidance in all riding situations and from a bike that will never tip over”. Isn’t it amazing?

Unfortunately, it’s a one off. But you can see it in action below.
