Dhenkanal Laxmi Puja 2015 in Odisha video, Lakshmi idols
Laxmi Puja celebration in Dhenkanal kicked off in a grand way at about 40 puja pandals. The festivities would continue till 6 November 2015.
The entire town will glitter with fancy lights as light arches have been made in 10 km stretch road from college square to Korian by pass road.
The annual festivity will be observed for 11 days for which district administration and police have made elaborate arrangements to ensure a hassle-free celebration. CCTV cameras have been installed at all puja pandals for the first time to keep strict vigil on anti-social activities.

Gaja Laxmi Puja in Dhenkanal enjoys a special place in the cultural map of Odisha. Every year this festival begins from Kumar Purnima and continues for eleven days. This is the longest festival of the district. This Grand festival started in the Year 1923 at Kunjasahu Chowk now known as Ganesh Bazar to the present Bazi chowk.
Entire Dhenkanal town is decorated with puja mandaps and electrical illumination. The historically famous ‘Bara’ (Bada) is one of delicious food item which attracts the people.
Adding to the festivities, Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) and district administration are organising a national level Pallishree Mela at Dhenkanal main stadium. As many as 227 stalls have been set up by entrepreneurs from 15 States in the fair.
As the town attracts thousands of visitors across the State, the district administration have taken measures to ensure smooth traffic. Heavy vehicles, which will not be allowed to ply on the main road in the town during night, have to cross the township through by-pass road, sources said.
Phailin and hudhud had played spoilsport for last two years dampening the festive sprit in the district. However, the denizens are all set to enjoy every minute this time during the puja celebration.
