Jatani : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik started the construction work of IIT Bhubaneswar at Arugul by doing Bhumi Puja this Sunday. This will be the permanent campus of IIT Bhubaneswar. Bhubaneswar MP Dr Prasanna Patsani, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar Professor M Chakraborty, MLA of Jatani Bibhuti Bhusan Balabantaray, Khurda MLA Rajendra Sahu, IIT Deputy Director G Panda and Registrar Bata Kishore Ray are present in the ceremony.

The foundation is laid by Naveen Patnaik on 12th February, 2009. Orissa Government provided 936 acre land for the campus of IIT. In a press release by IIT, it is clearly stated that The campus has the living capacity of 10000 students, 1000 lecturers, 1100 supporting staffs, more than 1000 security personnels. In the end of 2013 or begnning of 2014 the construction work is going to be finished. In first phase it is ready for 2500 students. From 2014 session, students are able to study here in this new campus. Thus 250 no of lecturers and 300 other staffs are appointed in first phase. One four lane road will be constructed from NH5 to IIT.
