Jana Gana Mana short film

‘Jana Gana Mana’ is an award winning short film produced and directed by two Odia persons, screened in Hyderabad on the occasion of Republic Day. The 12-minute film also aired on several Telugu entertainment channels in Andhra Pradesh the same day.

The film, produced by Prabahakar Patnaik of the same town, won the best film award at COFFI-Short Films Contest 2012 held at Mumbai in December, 2012. It will also be screened at the forthcoming International Film Festival, to be held in Jaipur form January 30 to February 5, said the director.

“The film tells the story of a child who sells the Tricolour on the eve of Republic Day and Independence Day but doesn’t know the value of the national flag. He tries to enter a school on Independence Day, where students are singing the national anthem. He, however, is prevented by the school guard. A girl student of the school shows empathy and tries to educate him about the national anthem and the flag,” narrated the director of the film Vijay Kumar Das of Chhatrapur in Ganjam district.
