Choreography Festival Samrachana starts
Odisha Tourism in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi and GKCM Odissi Research Center organised ‘Samrachana’, a choreography festival that began on Saturday.
Noted classical dancers and gurus of India will present their finest choreographies at the three-day festival.

Day 1 : Odissi exponent Kiran Segal, along with her troupe, presented ‘Divya Namaskar’, a salute to Rabindranath Tagore, and ‘Taalaangiya’, composed for the closing ceremony of India’s 50 years of Independence. Her performance was followed by Bharatnatyam presentation by Chitra Visweswaran and group from Chennai.
Day 2: On Sunday, noted Mohiniattam dancer Deepti Omchery and group Tirkalaa Gurukulam will present two invocatory pieces ‘Shabdachaali’ and ‘Sivachaali’. Odissi danseuse Kumkum Mohanty and her group Geeta Govinda will present ‘Bibarna Chaturanga’, to depict the cycle of birth and death.
Day 3 : On the concluding evening, Mumbai-based Odissi dancer Jhelum Paranjape and her group Smitalaya will present a piece based on poems by Rabindranath Tagore.
The final performance of the festival will be ‘Mata Hidimba’ by Kathak dancer Rajashree Shirke and group Lasya. The production set in the ‘kathakaar’ format in Kathak, which combines Indian theatre and classical dance into a harmonious synergy.
