IIM Odisha at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur or Sambalpur

The IDCO has asked the collectors of four districts to identify 200 acres of land each in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and Sambalpur for IIM Odisha. The collectors, after identifying the land, will have to submit their report within 10 September.

After that, the Central Site Selection Committee will select one of the four places for establishment of the IIM.

The move of the State Government comes in the wake of a letter from the Union Human Resource Development Ministry asking the State Government to provide 200 acres of land free of cost for establishment of the IIM. The land should be free of litigation and situated in a city with rail, road and air connectivity.

The Khurda district administration has been examining land near the upcoming campuses of NISER and IIT, govt sources said.

Sambalpur district has short-listed two plots. One is near Gosala and the other is Nildungri.

Cuttack district administration is searching for land in Baranga and Naraj areas.

Apart from the four short-listed cities, the demand for IIM had also come from Balasore, Rourkela and Puri.
