Newly-elected Rajya Sabha (RS) members of BJD Kalpataru Das and Sarojini Hembram took oath in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Soon after the oath-taking ceremony, Kalpataru and Sarojini said they would work for the development of the state. “It has been my dream to see Odisha grow in all sectors. I will properly represent the state in the upper house,” Kalpataru said. “Promotion of Odissi music will be one of my focus areas,” Sarojini said.
Congress sources said Ranjib Biswal would take the oath of office on Wednesday.
Kalpataru, Sarojini and AU Singhdeo of BJD and Biswal were elected to the upper house on February 7.
Elections were held to fill up four seats in the state as terms of Ramachandra Khuntia of Congress, Mangala Kissan and Renubala Pradhan of BJD and Balbir Punj of BJP ended on April 2.
