Kendrapara SP transferred, Nitinjeet Singh appointed new SP

The Odisha government today transferred the Kendrapara SP Satish Gajbhiye with immediate effect and appointed senior IPS officer Nitinjeet Singh as new SP of Kendrapada.

Not only did former SP fail to rein in his men who went berserk attacking all and sundry – not sparing even those who had nothing to do with the protests – he actually defended the action by the cops.

He helped the situation from worsening with his ill-advised and insensitive comment that the protestors had been instigated by someone.

Today senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra had demanded his immediate suspension and removal from Kendrapara.

With the situation in Kendrapara threatening to go out of hand, the state government has also sent Central range IG RP Koche to Kendrapara in a desperate effort to restore normalcy in the town.

In the wake of being stripped off the post of Kendrapara police chief by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), media sought former Kendrapara Superintendent of Police (SP) Satish Gajibhiye’s reaction.

In his reaction he said that, he has no comments on the decision of the Odisha Government as it is the state’s prerogative, but he still stuck to his guns saying that “whatever the police personnel have done is as per the laws”.

The Odisha lawyer fraternity has also protested such an inhuman act of the Kendrapara police and reportedly threatened a statewide bandh call on August 10 meanwhile.

A three-member team of crime branch is still interrogating the self-proclaimed godman Sarathi Baba at his ashram in Kendrapada district. The crime branch is quizzing the Baba since 1.50 pm to know about his trip to Hyderabad with a girl in July.
