Lakshmi Narayana Besha of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra is also known as ‘Thiakia Besha’.
Lord Jagannath is dressed as Vishnu with Sankha and Chakra and Lord Balavadra with bow and arrow and Maa Subhadra appears with hands and legs and sits like a queen.
Lakshmi Narayana Besha is done on the 11th day of the bright fortnight of Kartika or Kartik Sukla Ekadasi tithi. Holy Panchuka brata also starts from this day.
It is said that the worship of Lakshmi and Narayana has gained popularity in Jagannatha consciousness, since the visit of Ramanuja, the great religious preacher to this holy land of Srikshetra Puri.
It is said that Sri Nimbakacharya in 12th century introduced this Lakshmi Narayana Besha (Laxmi Narayan Besa).
