Odisha girl Nikita Gantayet won the Miss South Asia Canada 2017 crown recently. She is an engineer and currently working in Canada.
Contestants from only South Asia can participate in the pageant and it is organized by Ragaa Models and Ragaa Production every year.
“There was a lot of competition I must say because all women were beautiful and talented, but I think I had better chance at winning because I was a dancer and the Bollywood diva award gave me that affirmation that I had chances of winning,” she said.
“I am so privileged and thrilled to have been crowned Miss South Asia Canada 2017 & Miss Bollywood Diva! This was possible only with the support of my family, friends and the lovely audience. Thank you to everyone who cheered me on. This was an experience I will always cherish,” she added.
Any single (never married) girl who lives in Canada between the ages of 15-30 can compete for the title. The pageant accepts participants who claim ancestry from the countries of: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and SriLanka.
