Odisha boy Ekansh Goyal bags all India rank 2 in NEET test for MBBS

Odisha boy Ekansh Goyal from Rourkela secured the all-India rank (AIR) 2 in the coveted national eligibility-cum-entrance test for MBBS admission (NEET-UG), the result of which was published on Tuesday.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of both the phases of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test on Tuesday, a day ahead of the expected date.

“I was expecting a rank among the top five. Since one can calculate one’s marks, I was pretty sure about it,” Ekansh said. He had calculated he would secure 682 marks out of 720.

Het Shah, 18, from Gujarat, scored 685 out of 720 marks to grab the All India Rank (AIR) 1. Ekansh Goyal, 18, from Odisha and Nikhil Bajiya, 17, from Rajasthan bagged AIR 2 and 3 respectively.

Ekansh, who had secured AIR 9 in the pre-medical entrance of AIIMS and AIR 8 in JIPMER MBBS 2016, has already taken admission in AIIMS New Delhi. “I won’t change college on the basis of NEET results,” he said.

Ekansh’s father Sanjay Goyal, a businessman, said, “the result means nothing for taking any academic decision. It gives us just another result for celebration.”

Younger of two siblings Ekansh, completed his Class X from DPS Rourkela with 10 CGPA and had shifted to Kota for Class 12.
