Odisha boy innovated LPG detector and controller to prevent accidents

Odisha boy Debashis Shivamangal innovated a kitchen safety kit that can prevent LPG related mishaps. The LPG detector and controller could be very helpful in preventing accidents due to leakage of gas.

Last week, Debasish, now a student of Plus 2 Science at SCS Junior College in Puri, visited Tokyo under the Asia Youth Exchange Programme in science organised by the Union Science and Technology ministry.

“The device I developed will be fixed to the LPG cylinder and can detect leakage within a few minutes. It will trigger an alarm, send a SMS to your mobile and also vent out the gas,” said Debasish. He was felicitated by the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) here on Tuesday.

“I want my innovation and the technology I developed to reach people instead of remaining in the pen and paper only,” Debasish added. He urged the government to help him obtain a patent for his innovation.
